#1 Andrew Tye

One player who surprised quite a few people with his performance last year was Kings XI Punjab's Andrew Tye. Even though Tye had a good IPL record and he was a permanent member of Australia's T20 squad, very few people expected him to win the Purple Cap at the end of the season.
However, Tye exceeded expectations and used his variations to good effect picking up a lot of wickets with the knuckleball - a variation he seemed to have mastered. He picked up 24 wickets in 14 matches and was Ravichandran Ashwin's go-to bowler, especially in the death overs.
The 32-year-old was expected to build on this confidence and was given a long run in the national side. But unfortunately, things have gone downside for Tye since then. He has proven to be extremely expensive with the ball and lost his place in the Australian side. The right arm seamer was called up as Kane Richardson's replacement against India but didn't get a game.
