On the virtue of these traits, the all-rounder was bought for a jaw-dropping price of $650,000, which was 13 times of his base price of $50,000. However, the Sri Lankan failed to justify the big bucks put on him. In the 2 matches he played in that season, Perera scored just 4 runs and failed with the ball too and thus, Mumbai Indians did not retain him the next year.
