Flops of the Day – SRH vs MI - May 1, 2013

Kshitij
Mumbai Indians batsman Sachin Tendulkar

Umpire Asnani

Probably intimidated by repeated appealing from Amit Mishra, umpire Asnani wrongly gave Dwayne Smith out LBW when the ball hit the glove first. Smith had just hit a boundary the previous ball, and slipped while playing the shot which probably confused the umpire. The unlucky dismissal led to Mumbai struggling to score big runs off the final overs.

Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin again looked in good touch while he was at the crease, stroking a couple of good boundaries. However, for the nth time in recent memory he was bowled through the gate. The bells might not yet be ringing, but Sachin is the weakest link in the MI batting line-up, and owes his team a big innings.

Dinesh Karthik

He took apart a few attacks in the opening games of the tournament, but has not performed as well in the last few games. Today he lasted just 2 balls, playing a loose shot on the offside to a delivery that he could have left alone.

Kieron Pollard

When Pollard walked to the crease, 7.1 overs were left and he had enough time to get his eye in and then go for the big hits. Bowlers feared the worst and fans expected to see the ball go into the stands a few times. However, Pollard was clueless when facing Mishra and was unable to get Steyn & Perera’s yorkers away at the death. An innings of 14 off 19 from a leading finisher in the game was totally unexpected. Unfortunately, he also injured himself while fielding.
