#6 Ashok Menaria

Menaria's career never took off after the U-19 World Cup.
Menaria's career never took off after the U-19 World Cup.

Menaria's boys battled hard in 2010 to defend the honor Kohli's team had brought the country in 2008, but their journey ended in the quarter finals of the event.

However, the left-handed batsman found a spot in the Rajasthan Royals, for whom he played 29 matches spread across the 2011-2013 editions. He could not make an impact with the bat nor with his left arm spin bowling and that was the end of his IPL career.

Although he continues to play domestic cricket for Rajasthan, he has never shown signs of breaking into the national team.

#7 Unmukt Chand

Unmukt Chand's stump cartwheeling on the first ball of IPL 2013 is a sight many remember.
Unmukt Chand's stump cartwheeling on the first ball of IPL 2013 is a sight many remember.

When a Delhi boy led the India U-19 side to victory in the World Cup in 2012, it was a deja vu moment for cricket followers. And thus Unmukt Chand was touted to be the next Virat Kohli in Indian cricket.

Things, however, did not fall in place for young Chand as his career never took off. In the IPL, all he managed across six seasons was 21 games, 13 for Delhi, 1 for Rajasthan and 7 for Mumbai.

Chand's performances did not impress any of the franchises he played for and his IPL career came to a hault. He has also failed to keep his position in the Delhi Ranji team and has moved to his native state of Uttarakhand.

#8 Vijay Zol

Zol played just 3 matches in the IPL.

Maharasthra batsman Vijay Zol was India's captain at the 2014 U-19 World Cup, but the team crashed out at the quarter final stage. In the same year, he was signed by RCB.

However, Zol was not given adequate chances to prove himself as RCB showed him the door after only three games wherein he managed all but 29 runs.

Zol's returns in domestic cricket have also been unconvincing, resulting in him not being on the national selection committee's radar.

#9 Ishan Kishan

In 2016, under Ishan Kishan's captaincy and Rahul Dravid's aegis, India were clear favorites to lift the U-19 World Cup. However, their emphatic run was brought to a halt in the final when West Indies defeated them.

Hailing from the state of Jharkhand, wicketkeeper batsman Kishan will be willing to emulate one of the greatest wicketkeeper the country has seen in M.S. Dhoni and grab the spot left vacant by his exit.

Kishan has so far played a couple of seasons each for Gujarat Lions and Mumbai Indians, playing 16 and 21 matches respectively. His 695 runs have come at a decent strike rate of 130.89, and with the upcoming season, he will be aiming to draw the attention of the national selectors.

#10 Prithvi Shaw

Shaw has a bright future ahead of him.

Prithvi Shaw's U-19 India team ended a six year drought when they went on to win the 2018 edition of the U-19 World Cup. Shaw, who had already made ripples in the Mumbai cricket circles as a child prodigy, ended up not just getting an IPL contract with the Delhi Capitals, but also managed to make his India debut.

Shaw did not stop here, as he scored a glittering century on his Test debut, becoming the second youngest Indian to do so after the legendary Little Master.

Opening the batting for the Capitals, Shaw has amassed 598 runs in 25 matches at an impressive strike rate of 141.04 and seems to be a great investment for the Delhi based franchise.

#11 Priyam Garg

Priyam Garg will turn up in Sunrisers' colours starting IPL 2020.

In 2020, the India U-19 team, under the leadership of Priyam Garg, was all set to win their fifth title. But the boys from Bangladesh had other plans, as they spoilt India's dream run to the final by beating them.

The Uttar Pradesh born Garg has shown potential way beyond his years as he has already impressed in the domestic circuit. A classic right-handed batsman, Garg not just caught Dravid's eye owing to his dedication, but has also attracted a bid of Rs 1.9 crores at the IPL auction.
