We had two matches on 21 May 2016. Rising Pune Supergiants played Kings XI Punjab in the first game. Both the teams were out of the competition. It was a matter of pride for these teams for they wanted to finish this season on a high. Gujarat Lions played Mumbai Indians in the second game. It was a must-win game for Mumbai Indians. While Gujarat Lions wanted a win to top the league table.
Match one – Rising Pune Supergiants vs Kings XI Punjab
Kings XI Punjab won the toss and chose to bat first.

Kings XI Punjab started well. Murali scored a well-paced fifty. He has been the standout performer for Kings XI Punjab this season. Gurkeerat Singh too scored a half-century. Kings XI Punjab put 172 runs on the board.
Ravichandran Ashwin had an excellent game. He took four wickets in this match. Adam Zampa picked up a wicket as well.
Rising Pune Supergiants was off to a wobbly start. RPS lost two wickets in the first seven overs. It was all up to MS Dhoni and Perera. Perera walked early as well.
Gurkeerat Singh had a good game with the ball too. He took two wickets in a single over.
Rising Pune Supergiants needed 23 runs of the last over. MS Dhoni scored those runs in style. RPS needed a six of the last ball and Dhoni finished the game with a classic helicopter shot. We will surely remember this game for quite some time.
Match two – Gujarat Lions vs Mumbai Indians
Gujarat Lions won the toss and chose to field first.
Gujarat Lions Playing XI:
Dwayne Smith, Brendon McCullum, Suresh Raina(C), Dinesh Karthik(WK), Aaron Finch, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Eklavya Dwivedi, Praveen Kumar, Shadab Jakati, Dhawal Kulkarni.
Mumbai Indians Playing XI:
Rohit Sharma (C), Martin Guptill, Krunal Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Jos Buttler(WK), Nitish Rana, Hardik Pandya, Harbhajan Singh, Vinay Kumar, Mitchell McClenaghan, Jasprit Bumrah.
Mumbai Indians lost Martin Guptill early. Rohit Sharma could stay long as well. Nitish Rana played a spectacular knock. He scored 70 runs in just 36 balls. Jos Buttler had a decent start but could not keep going.
Dhawal Kulkarni, Dwayne Smith, Praveen Kumar, and Dwayne Bravo picked up two wickets each. Plenty of wickets for GL bowlers.
Aaron Finch departed for a nought. McCullum and Suresh Raina held their ground and lay a solid foundation for the chase. Raina scored yet another half-century.
In the end, Dwayne Smith finished the match to ensure that Gujarat Lions is through to the playoffs.
