IPL 2017: Gautam Gambhir calls the Delhi Daredevils bowling attack 'the most talented one' in this year's edition
Gambhir wrote that in his colomn for the Hindustan Times.
What’s the story?
Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir has called the bowling attack of the Delhi Daredevils, ‘the most talented in this year’s IPL’. Writing in his exclusive column for The Hindustan Times, the 35-yar-old saif that the team had a lot of variety in their arsenal and in Rahul Dravid and Zaheer Khan, they had experience in abundance.
“Our next opposition Delhi Daredevils are easily the most talented bowling side in this year’s IPL, a platter with all the variety you could imagine. With Rahul Dravid as coach and Zaheer Khan as captain there is an experience of over 800 international games between them,” Gambhir wrote.
In case you didn’t know...
The Knight Riders are in Delhi right now to take on the Daredevils at the Kotla for the first of the doubleheaders on Monday. They head into the game on the back of a win at home against the Sunriders Hyderabad. Their opponents are also high on confidence after two back-to-back thumping wins over the Rising Pune Supergiant and the Kings XI Punjab.
The heart of the matter
Gambhir further praised his own spin duo of Sunil Narine and Kuldeep Yadav for their performance in the last game and revealed the dismissals of Yuvraj Singh and David Warner proved to be decisive turning points in the game.
He expressed pride over his side’s showing and hoped for a similar performance on Monday as well.
With a bowling attack firing all cylinders, the Daredevils will look to keep up with the momentum that they have got going for themselves in this competition so far. The likes of Chris Morris, Amit Mishra and Zaheer Khan himself doing really well, the team looks to be in good shape at the moment and they will hope to continue that in their second consecutive home game on Monday.
While the Daredevils do possess a varied attack, it is difficult to say whether it is the most talented one in the competition. A team like the Sunrisers Hyderabad would surely challenge them for that tag as will a unit like the Mumbai Indians. If indeed this attack of the Daredevils helps them win their maiden IPL, then there can be a case to call them that.
