IPL: 3 bizarre dismissals in the history of IPL

#2 Yuvi’s hit wicket

Yuvr
Yuvraj Singh broke the stumps with his bat while trying to chase the ball

Game: Match 37 of IPL 2016

Teams: Sunrisers Hyderabad vs. Mumbai Indians

Over: 19.4 (1st innings)

It will be a surprise for many to see Yuvraj Singh feature in this list. Sunrisers Hyderabad bought Yuvraj Singh for the 2016 edition. It was Yuvi’s 100th IPL match. He looked in right touch throughout the game. SRH had already scored 80 runs in their previous six overs (14-19). Mitchell McClenaghan bowled the final over for Mumbai Indians. He bowled a full-length wider delivery to Yuvraj who was standing deep in the crease. Yuvraj hit the stumps with his bat instead of smashing the ball. It was a disappointing end to his milestone match. Nevertheless, he had scored 39 runs from just 23 balls with a strike rate of 169.56. SRH ended their innings with 177 runs on the scoreboard. The target was found to be too high for Mumbai Indians as they were bowled out by SRH for mere 92 runs.

So far, nine batsmen were dismissed in this fashion in the history of IPL. In the 2016 edition alone, there were three such dismissals recorded, and the batsmen (Yuvraj Singh, David Warner, and Deepak Hooda) in all those three occasions belong to the same team - Sunrisers Hyderabad.
