The 20-over format of the game is tailor-made for power-hitters who strike the ball many a mile. Over the years, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed numerous displays of powerful shot-making.

There are many power-hitters on show in this year's edition of the IPL as well and it is extremely tough to pick the best of the lot. All eight teams have their own set of hitters as it is an absolute essential in this format of the game.

Here's who we think will be in contention to hit the longest six in IPL 2018:

#5 Brendon McCullum

Though he's probably not what he used to be in the first few editions of the IPL, Brendon McCullum is still a very powerful hitter of the ball. Who can forget his breathtaking knock that set the IPL ablaze in the very first match of the tournament in 2008, in Bangalore?

Interestingly enough, he will be donning the jersey of RCB this time around and playing at the Chinnaswamy might bring back old memories and old form. Expect him to hit a few big ones this year!

#4 Chris Gayle

How can you leave this guy out when you're making a list of the biggest six hitters? Another batsman who is not in his prime but can never really be counted out. Needless to say, Chris Gayle is the biggest six-hitter the game has ever witnessed.

He might have a point to prove after being overlooked by all the teams until the very last round of the auction. It won't come as a surprise to anyone if Gayle ends up with a couple of monster hits in IPL 2018, so watch out.

#3 Hardik Pandya

Looking at Hardik Pandya, power hitting is not something that would immediately come to mind. Pandya was picked by Mumbai Indians ahead of the 2015 IPL and after some fine match-winning performances, has gone on to play for India in all three formats of the game. Hard hitting Indian batsmen are a rare commodity and this bloke can strike the ball into the Arabian Sea when he's at his best. Expect him to pull off a couple of magnificent sixes that sail many a mile!

#2 Kieron Pollard

Another name you will find on the list of biggest six-hitters, Kieron Pollard sends the ball into orbit when he is in the mood. Moreover, the ease with which he does so leaves viewers awestruck.

Playing in conditions that he is used to now, Pollard can take apart any bowling attack in the world. Take my word for it, Pollard will surely hit a couple of sixes that break a few records this season. Keep an eye out for him!

#1 Andre Russell

This was a no-brainer really, wasn't it? This man is a six-hitting machine! Being one of only two players the Kolkata Knight Riders retained ahead of the 2018 IPL, it will give him an extra incentive to perform.

His power-hitting prowess is unparalleled and he can single-handedly take the game away from the opposition in the blink of an eye.

Andre Russell, according to me, will hit the biggest six of the 2018 edition of the IPL.
