#6 Most runs in a single season

Shaun Marsh was the highest run-scorer of the inaugural season of the IPL with 616 runs. His tally was the most in a single IPL edition before Sachin Tendulkar bettered it by two runs in 2010. Tendulkar’s tally was bettered by a good 115 runs as Chris Gayle scored 733 runs at an average of 61.08 in IPL 2012
Gayle’s tally was equalled by Mike Hussey in the following season at an average of 52.35. Gayle’s and Hussey’s tally stood was not bettered in either of the 2014 or 2015 editions. However, in 2016, their record was bettered by none other than Virat Kohli.
Kohli, at his very best, smashed 973 runs throughout the tournament and averaged a mammoth 81.08. This remains the record for the most number of runs scored in a single edition of the IPL.
