Adam Gilchrist scored the first ever IPL fifty that took less than 20 deliveries to score. He scored his fifty from 17 deliveries against Delhi Daredevils in the 2009 semi-final. Gilly’s record was equalled by Chris Gayle in 2013 against Pune Warriors India.

In 2014, Yusuf Pathan scored a 50 from just 15 deliveries against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens to hold the record for the fastest fifty in IPL history. Pathan’s knock helped Kolkata Knight Riders chase down 161 in less than 15 overs which helped them reach second in the points table.
Pathan’s record was equalled by another KKR player- Sunil Narine. Narine scored his fifty against Royal Challengers Bangalore last year at Bangalore. Pathan’s and Narine’s joint record was broken today by KL Rahul when he smashed a fifty from just 14 deliveries for Kings XI Punjab against Delhi Daredevils at Mohali.
