Sohail Tanvir was the highest wicket-taker of the inaugural season of the IPL with 22 wickets. His tally was bettered by RP Singh the following season when he took 23 wickets for Deccan Chargers. Singh’s tally was bettered by Lasith Malinga two years later when he bagged 28 wickets for Mumbai Indians in the 2011 edition.
Malinga’s tally was bettered two years later by West Indies’ Dwayne Bravo who took 32 wickets for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2013. Bravo’s record hasn’t been bettered so far with Malinga’s tally of 28 wickets in 2011 being the second most number of wickets in a single edition of the IPL.
