Match 10 of IPL 2018 ended with a relatively one-sided affair which saw Sunrisers Hyderabad pulling off their first win at the Eden Gardens.

KKR spinners made the target little difficult for them but thanks to Yusuf Pathan’s cameo and a calming half-century from Kane Williamson, they chased the target with an over to spare.

Sportskeeda takes a look at the three unnoticed things from the match which had a considerable impact on the end result.

#1 Pandey’s stunning catches

En
Pandey pulled off some blinders on the field

Sunrisers Hyderabad is one the few T20 sides in the world who emphasise on bowling to win the matches as compared to batting glitz.

More often than not, it was complimented by fielders who back their plans and execute them by taking catches offered to them.

The pattern followed in today’s match with another commendable bowling performance by men in orange restricting KKR to 138 which was made possible with the help of some brilliant catches in the field.

Best fielding efforts came from Manish Pandey who pulled off two stunning catches, first one being at point dismissing Nitish Rana with the ball popping out while diving and grabbing the ball on his second attempt.

The other catch was off Andre Russell which was lobbed up in the air off the top edge and brilliantly pouched by Pandey running backwards, both times the beneficiary being Billy Stanlake who got the credits in the wicket column.

#2 Taking on Rashid Khan

KKR played Rashid Khan well

Not many sides in the world cracked the Rashid Khan factor and opposition batsmen were content in playing out his over without donating wickets to him.

He was summoned by Williamson to bowl inside the powerplay with a view of slowing the scoring rate and pick wickets, preferably of Lynn.

It didn’t go as per plan for Sunrisers as Rana dispatched him for a six slog-sweeping his googly and finishing the over with a boundary through a square cut.

Khan never conceded a six in this tournament until today and finished the match without a single wicket.

#3 Choking with Spin

The spinners of KKR made this low-scoring match an interesting contest

Chasing 139 to secure their first win at Eden Gardens, Sunrisers Hyderabad was given a thorough spin examination by KKR skipper Karthik in pursuit of defending a smaller total.

Spin was introduced in the form of Narine in fourth over which was followed by Piyush Chawla and Kuldeep Yadav and bowled right through until 11th over without a single over of pace bowling in that period.

It paid immediate dividends with Narine picking the wicket of Sunrisers wicketkeeper Saha in his first delivery and removing Shikhar Dhawan next over.

All three had their name in the wickets column but couldn’t prevent them chasing the target thanks to some sensible batsmanship from Williamson.
