Sunrisers Hyderabad was founded in 2012 after the Hyderabad-based franchise Deccan Chargers was terminated by the IPL administration.

The team made its debut in the 2013 IPL season and quickly gained support from the fans of the Deccan Chargers. They were successful in their first season itself as they finished 4th on the points table.

They failed to qualify for the playoffs in the following two seasons but came back strong in the 2016 season to clinch their maiden IPL title.

Last season, they qualified for the playoffs comfortably but their hopes were shattered when they lost the eliminator against Kolkata Knight Riders.

In the IPL, Sunrisers Hyderabad have played 76 matches out of which they have won 41 and lost 34. One of the matches was tied which they won in the Super Over.
