IPL 2018, SRH vs DD Match Prediction: Who will win today's match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Daredevils

Two teams at opposite ends of the spectrum square off later tonight in a match that would go a long way in determining their fortunes in IPL 2018.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have been the surprise packages of the competition so far (they were written off when they lost the services of David Warner before the start of the tournament), defending sub-par total after sub-par total, moving to the top of the points table in the process.

Delhi Daredevils, on the other hand, have notched up just three wins so far and despite being commandeered by a new captain in Shreyas Iyer, their fortunes have remained the same, lying second from bottom and desperately needing a win to stay in the reckoning.

If Sunrisers bat first

Predicted score - 150+

Sunrisers have notched up scores of 151, 132 and 118 in their last three matches and I do not expect them to get too many more today. Their batting line up has struggled with the exception of Kane Williamson who has led the side admirably. The likes of Dhawan, Pandey and Shakib have struggled for runs and unless Alex Hales fires at the top, we could be in for another low scoring game.

Yusuf Pathan too has not found his rhythm, contributing to their struggles as a unit. Keeping all that in mind, Sunrisers are unlikely to get more than 150.

If Delhi bat first

Predicted score - 140+

Delhi have an explosive batting line-up in the form of opener Prithvi Shaw and Colin Munro followed by Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and co. but they could well be stifled by Shakib, Rashid and Sandeep Sharma who have bowled impeccably of late.

Glenn Maxwell has looked like a fish out of water this season and if the top order fails, it might be a bridge too far for the likes of Tewatia, Plunkett and Vijay Shankar in the lower order. Hence, a score of over 140 is a stretch.

Match prediction

Sunrisers have the best bowling line up in the tournament and it should easily be enough to overcome the Delhi side. There seems to be no stopping the Williamson led juggernaut at the moment and they would be looking to all but seal their spot in the playoffs with their seventh win of the tournament.

The pitch at Hyderabad will assist the bowlers at the start, so expect SRH to take full advantage of the conditions on offer.
