Ishan Kishan scored just 9 in the second game

Ishan Kishan was expected to play a big role for Mumbai Indians with Aditya Tare the only other notable wicket-keeper batsman in the squad. Kishan also came into the IPL with some very consistent performances in domestic cricket (he scored over 1070 runs in 25 innings across formats).

In the first game, Kishan came into bat at 7 for 1 (in the third over) and scored a very good 40 against Chennai Super Kings and stabilized the innings after a couple of early wickets. In this game, Kishan was once again in early as Rohit Sharma was dismissed on the last ball of the second over.

Kishan faced a couple of deliveries in the third over and was lucky as it fetched a couple of cheeky boundaries. Off his first delivery, he went for a big hoick and was lucky to get away with an inside-edge, which raced away to the boundary. On his next delivery, he got an outside edge that flew to the third man boundary.

Despite not having convincing boundaries, the Jharkhand wicket-keeper was batting on 8 off 2 balls. However, he struggled against Rashid Khan as he didn’t pick the Afghanistan leggie. He was also dropped by Sandeep Sharma at mid-off. However, Kishan couldn’t make that opportunity count and was out in the next over for 9.
