Suryakumar Yadav

Every edition of the IPL is known to unearth hidden talents from the domestic circuit. Like every year, this year too there have been some top quality performances by the domestic batsmen.

IPL provides an ideal platform for these batsmen to showcase their skills and hog the limelight.

It won’t be wrong to say that Indian Premier League is all about opportunities and those who end up grabbing these opportunities will be under the selector's radar.

With such huge expectations and to perform under pressure requires these players to step up their game. This format is indeed harsh as a bad game can mean paving the way for a new player.

Despite such challenges, here are the top three uncapped Indian batsmen who have had a solid start to this year's IPL:

#1 Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav's game is perfectly suited for the shortest format for the game. He is known for his brilliant strokeplay and has a wide array of shots. After being a part of Mumbai Indians in 2011, he was picked up by KKR for 70 lakhs in 2014.

During his time at KKR, he impressed with his finishing abilities and brilliant fielding. He made useful contributions in the lower order which helped the team either to massive totals or helped KKR to chase stiff totals. In this year's auction, due to his consistent performance for KKR, his value rose and he was snaffled by Mumbai Indians for a price of 3.2 crores.

After experimenting with Yadav's batting position, Mumbai has finally decided to let SK open the innings. This key decision has helped Yadav to play freely without any pressure and got Mumbai to quick starts. He has had a phenomenal start to the tournament and has scored 274 runs in seven matches at a healthy average of 39.14.

#2 Nitish Rana

During last year's IPL, Nitish Rana emerged as one of the brightest prospects in Indian cricket. He was a consistent performer for Mumbai Indians and scored 333 runs in 13 games at a healthy average of over 30.

In this year's auction, after a fierce bidding war between Mumbai Indians and KKR, he was brought by KKR for 3.4 crores. He had an impressive start by turning the match in KKR's favor after taking wickets of ABD and Virat Kohli in a single over.

In the seven matches so far, he has scored 173 runs at an average of around 30. He has also been used a part-time bowler and has picked up four wickets. If he manages to string up consistent performances in the remaining matches of the IPL, a call-up to the national squad doesn't look so distant.

#1 Mandeep Singh

Mandeep Singh is known by a lot of Punjab fans, thanks to his stellar campaign in 2012. During that season he was the highest run-getter for Kings XI Punjab and won the 'Rising Star of the tournament' award. A hard-hitting, top-order batsman, Mandeep Singh was bought by RCB in this year's auction for 1.4 crores.

RCB's top order is packed with superstars and this meant that Mandeep had to play in the lower order and don the role of a finisher. He has seamlessly adapted to this role and helped RCB to blast off in the death overs. He has scored 171 runs in six matches at an average of 42.75.

His timing along with the ability to spot the gaps in the field have made him a formidable finisher. If he manages to continue his rich vein in form, he can be one of the contenders to play for India in the future
