Sunil Narine was promoted to open the innings in IPL 2018 and he was an instant success. Narine scored 357 runs in IPL 2018 at a strike rate of 190 apart from taking 17 wickets in the season. With his all-around performance, Narine accumulated 379 points to be adjudged the Most Valuable Player(MVP) of IPL 2018.

In IPL history, Narine has opened for KKR in 26 matches and scored 565 runs at a strike rate of 188. In IPL 2018, in two matches, he opened both the batting and bowling for KKR.

Narine opening the batting for KKR would lend more balance to the team. Besides, in almost every opposition team, there is always an opening batsman or a No. 3 who is a left-hander. Hence, it wouldn’t be a bad idea for KKR to open the bowling with off-spinner Narine. A couple of wickets at the top from him would derail the opposition.
