Chennai Super Kings and the Mumbai Indians: The magical names which have got millions of fans. The fan bases of these franchises are huge. As we all know, this rivalry has a wonderful history in the IPL. The match between these two teams is referred to as the 'El Classico' of the Indian tournament.

Both the teams have lifted the coveted trophy 3 times. Mumbai Indians lifted their inaugural trophy by beating Chennai Super Kings in 2013 final, under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.

The MI Paltan achieved this feat again by again beating the Chennai Super Kings in 2015 final. Then for a third time, the Mumbai Indians lifted the trophy courtesy of a thrilling 1-run victory against the Rising Pune Supergiants in 2017. The irony is at all the 3 times, MS Dhoni was the opposition captain.

On the other hand, the Chennai Super Kings won its first IPL trophy in the 2010 edition by beating their arch-rivals, Mumbai Indians. They won it again in 2011, this time beating the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Their 3rd victory story is a great one. The 11 yellow men wrote India's one of the best comeback stories by winning the 2018 edition of the IPL. All three trophies have been won under the stewardship of MS Dhoni.

Both Dhoni and Rohit stand equal in terms of the number of IPL trophies won. The tradition could continue this year, as well as both teams, have already qualified for the playoffs. By lifting the IPL trophy in this edition, either MSD or Rohit Sharma will set the all-time record of becoming the captain to lift the IPL Trophy the most number of times.
