The Royal Challengers Bangalore slumped to the sixth defeat of their 2019 season. It is no surprise considering that the RCB had made some terrible choices by letting go of good players from the past seasons.

Not too long ago, the Royal Challengers Bangalore team used to pose a lot of threat to the oppositions and the opposing teams used to be afraid to step on to the field looking at their prowess. However, times have changed and the RCB unit does not pose the same fear anymore.

The dip in the fortunes all go down to the gem of the players that the RCB have not kept in their squad. These players are now performing outstandingly for other teams leaving the Bangalore franchise in tatters.

Let us take a look at 6 players that RCB regret not retaining.

#6 Kedar Jadhav

India's limited-overs superstar was donning the red jersey in the IPL in 2016 and 2017. However, the RCB decided to not keep Kedar Jadhav in their squad after the 2017 season and are paying a huge price now.

Since being let go of by the RCB, Jadhav has cemented his place in the Indian team and has proved to be a great utility player. Jadhav is having a great time at the CSK and is showing a lot of promise with every game that he is playing. The RCB will certainly rue releasing a player of Kedar's quality.

#5 Shane Watson

Shane Watson was a part of the RCB unit for the 2016 and 2017 season and formed the core of the team along with Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Chris Gayle. Although he did not perform exceedingly well for the RCB, he was worth buying at the auction by RCB if not being retained.

Unfortunately, the RCB thanked him for his services too soon and Watson helped CSK win the 2018 season. He clearly showed that he was nowhere near the end of his career and the RCB missed out on a genuine striker.

#4 Billy Stanlake

Big Billy was in the Bangalore squad during the 2017 season of the IPL. Stanlake has metamorphosed into a reliable T20 bowler and uses his 7 feet height to great effect and generates awkward bounce.

The fast bowling department has been RCB's biggest let-down and Billy would have been able to revive the fortunes had the franchise shown some patience in him. He is now at the SRH where he wins them a few odd games that he plays for the Orange Army.

#3 Mandeep Singh

Mandeep Singh was a reliable lower-order hitter for the RCB during his stint with them. He lived up to his potential on most occasions and had hardly put a foot wrong, However, the RCB decided to trade him to the Kings XI Punjab in exchange for Marcus Stoinis.

After letting Mandeep go, there is not a single reliable Indian batsman in the RCB middle-order barring Virat Kohli. The Bangalore franchise have to ask themselves whether trading a good Indian batsman for a foreign all-rounder, which are abundant in supply at the auction, really a good deal?

#2 KL Rahul

KL Rahul has been one of RCB's biggest miss in recent times. After flourishing for them in the 2016 season and missing the 2017 one due to injury, Rahul was snatched from RCB's hands by Kings XI Punjab.

He had a sensational season for them in 2018 and showed his class as a T20 batsman. With Rahul gone, the RCB lost another gem of an Indian batsman which took a heavy toll on their batting strength.

#1 Chris Gayle

Among all the mistakes made by the RCB, if there one which has cost them the most, then it is the exclusion of Christopher Henry Gayle. His absence has been irreplaceable and the RCB have not been able to mitigate that even to a tiny little extent.

Gayle was having a little rough time in the IPL around the 2016-17 period. With age not on his side, the RCB were too quick to assume the end of his road and wrote him off before the 2018 auction.

However, the Universe Boss showed that he is far from done and is consistently playing fiery knocks for his new team Kings XI Punjab.
