Delhi Capitals:

Delhi Capitals looked determined to win this match. They showed up ready and looked like they meant business. Though some of their bowlers were quite expensive, they still picked up wickets in regular intervals which slowed down the flow of runs. Their batting was even more impressive to watch. They played with a lot more maturity, took advantage of the powerplay and paced the innings beautifully.

That being said, the players’ report cards are given below:

Prithvi Shaw (Runs 14 St.Rate: 200)

Rating: 2/10

Shaw showed a lot of intent at the start of his innings, but he failed to convert it into a big score. Given that he was playing on a beautiful batting track; he should’ve scored more runs for his team.

Shikhar Dhawan (Runs: 97 St.Rate: 153.97)

Rating: 10/10

Shikhar Dhawan played a perfect inning for his franchise. He stayed till the end and ensured that his team secured the win. He also scored some beautiful boundaries and showed some grit and determination to play through the innings.

Shreyas Iyer (Runs: 6 St.Rate: 100)

Rating: 1/10

Shreyas Iyer came in to bat after Delhi Capitals lost an early. However, he failed to get going and was soon dismissed for just 6 runs. Being the captain of the team, he should learn how to construct the innings properly and play with a bit more maturity.

Rishabh Pant (Runs: 46 St.Rate: 148.39)

Rating: 6/10

Rishabh Pant was the other shining light for Delhi Capitals. He got off to a slow start, but capitalized later on in the innings. He should’ve played till the end instead of losing his wicket to Nitish Rana.

Colin Ingram (Runs: 14 St.Rate: 233.33)

Rating: 2/10

Colin Ingram came in a bit late in the innings to bat. Hence, he didn’t have much to do with the bat. He played some good shots. Ingram finished off the match by hitting a six.

Chris Morris (Wickets: 2 Eco.rate: 9.50)

Rating: 5/10

Chris Morris bowled quite well even though he was a bit expensive. He finished with two wickets. Morris picked up the wicket of Andre Russell that perhaps tipped the scales in DC’s favor.

Axar Patel (Wickets: 0 Eco.Rate: 7.5)

Rating: 4/10

Axar Patel was the only bowler to didn’t pick up a single wicket. At the same time, he was one of DC’s most economical bowlers. He bowled quite tightly and put some pressure on the batsmen.

Ishant Sharma (Wicket: 1 Eco.Rate: 5.25)

Rating: 7/10

Ishant Sharma picked up a wicket in the very first ball of the match. He bowled most of his overs in the powerplay and was used quite well to restrict the batsmen. Ishant bowled in good areas and was the most economical bowler of the match.

Kagiso Rabada (Wickets: 2 Eco.Rate: 10.5)

Rating: 6/10

Though he was expensive, Rabada picked up two important wickets of Robin Uthappa and Dinesh Karthik. He could’ve bowled better to Andre Russell. Rabada didn’t utilize the yorker as well as he should’ve and bowled a couple of loose deliveries that were easy to put away.

Keemo Paul (Wickets: 2 Eco.Rate: 11.5)

Rating: 6/10

Just like Rabada, Keemo Paul was also quite expensive. The only reason why he gets such a high rating is because he picked up the wicket of Shubman Gill who was looking dangerous. He needs to improve his bowling if he intends to find a place in the playing XI.
