Nitish Rana opened the batting after Sunil Narine injured his finger in the first innings. Rana was brilliant for KKR at the top as he steadied the innings alongside Uthappa and never let the scoring rate down.

Rana opened the batting for the first time in his IPL career and boy did he play very well. He played the role of a sheet anchor, and allowed the likes of Russell and Uthappa to do the big hitting. He ended up scoring 68 runs from 47 balls, which had eight fours and three sixes in it.

KKR lost an early wicket in the form of Chris Lynn and the home side wanted a big partnership as they were chasing a score in excess of 180. Uthappa arrived, and he alongside Rana stitched a wonderful partnership of 80 runs. Uthappa used all his experience and made it look easy in the middle. He scored 35 runs off 27 balls, which included three fours and a six.
