Deepak Chahar was entrusted with the responsibility of bowling with the new ball in 2018. Chahar responded brilliantly and troubled the batsmen with his swing and took early wickets.

Following his spectacular season with CSK, the Rajasthan seamer was picked in the national side too. He is a regular in the India A side. CSK will be expecting Chahar to continue his good run in the IPL in 2019 as well.

#7 Royal Challengers Bangalore - Shivam Dube

Fast bowling all-rounders are a rare commodity in Indian cricket. And thus, any young cricketer in the domestic circuit who has this trait garners a lot of attention. One such player who has been in the news for his all-round abilities is Shivam Dube.

Dube plays for Mumbai in domestic cricket and has had a couple of fruitful seasons for the team. Dube came into limelight after playing some scintillating innings in local T20 tournaments in Mumbai. He has earned a lot of accolades for his big hitting abilities.

Legends like Sunil Gavaskar even wanted Dube to be considered for selection in the national side. He was also the only silver lining in the otherwise disappointing Ranji Trophy season for Mumbai. RCB snapped Dube for a mind-boggling price of ₹5 crores. The 25-year-old will look to carry his brilliant domestic form to the IPL.

#6 Sunrisers Hyderabad - Khaleel Ahmed

Sunrisers Hyderabad has always ensured that they enter the tournament with a power-packed bowling line-up, especially in the fast bowling department. Thus, there are times when talented backup pacers do not get the opportunities they deserve. One such player last season was Khaleel Ahmed.

The left-arm quick impressed everyone in the domestic tournaments and was bought by Sunrisers for huge bucks. But unfortunately, with the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddarth Kaul, Billy Stanlake and Sandeep Sharma in the side, Khaleel got only one game in the entire season.

However, his good domestic performance did not go unnoticed as he was selected in the Indian ODI team for the Asia Cup. Khaleel has done reasonably well for team India and is in contention for a place in the World Cup squad. The youngster is set to get more opportunities this time around and he will look to make the most of them.

#5 Kings XI Punjab - Mujeeb Ur Rahman

In 2016, Mustafizur Rahman became the first overseas player to become the Emerging Player of the Season. In 2019, Kings XI Punjab's Mujeeb Ur Rahman can become the second overseas player to achieve the feat.

Rahman had a sensational start to his IPL career last year where he bamboozled some big names of World cricket. The young Afghan was given the tough task of bowling with the new ball, something that he did for his national side too.

Mujeeb performed exceedingly well for the Kings as he picked up 14 wickets in 11 matches while being extremely economical giving away runs at less than 7 runs per over. The 17-year-old was Ravichandran Ashwin's go-to man throughout the season. If Mujeeb can continue his golden run in the IPL in 2019 as well, he can be in contention of winning the Emerging Player of the Season award.

#4 Rajasthan Royals - Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer was a relatively unknown quantity when he was bought for big bucks at the IPL 2018 auction by Rajasthan Royals. The right-arm quick impressed everyone with his raw pace in the England county circuit as well as the Big Bash League in Australia.

Archer repaid the trust put in him by the Royals' team management by putting in some impactful performances in IPL 2018. The 23-year-old took 15 wickets in 10 IPL matches last season. Royals' skipper Ajinkya Rahane used Archer extensively in the death overs and the opposition batsmen found it difficult to put him away.

Archer proved to be the X-factor for the Royals in IPL 2018. Even though the Barbados born cricketer might not be available for the entire season if he is selected in the England side, he is going to be crucial to the Royals' chances in the tournament.

#3 Mumbai Indians - Mayank Markande

Mumbai Indians did not buy any experienced spinner at the 2018 IPL auction and thus their spin department was considered to be their weak link. But Mayank Markande's performance in the inaugural match of the season against Chennai Super Kings proved otherwise.

Markande, who was a fairly unknown name at that stage, showed immense confidence in himself and bowled some terrific spells for the Mumbai based franchise. The young Punjab spinner took 15 wickets in 14 games in IPL 2018 and was the Purple Cap holder for a few matches. His did struggle a little in the latter half of the tournament; however, he still managed to impress everyone with his temperament.

The 21-year-old was then chosen in the India A side and delivered some good performances there too. Markande will be keen to repeat his IPL 2018 performance in 2019 too.

#2 Delhi Capitals - Prithvi Shaw

One player who had a dream year in 2018 was Prithvi Shaw. After starting the year by winning the Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand, Shaw had a sensational IPL debut season. He ended the year with a fabulous Test debut for India against West Indies. Talking about IPL, Shaw's aggressive approach at the top of the order earned him a lot of praise.

The youngster played some fearless innings for Delhi Daredevils and scored 245 runs in 9 matches at a brisk strike-rate of 153.12. Since then, Shaw has gone strength to strength. He was phenomenal in his debut Test series against West Indies.

The 19-year-old was instrumental to Mumbai's Vijay Hazare title as well. He did miss the Australian Test series due to injury but he is set to play in the IPL.

#1 Kolkata Knight Riders - Shubman Gill

Another member of the victorious Indian Under-19 World Cup winning team who had a productive 2018 was Shubman Gill. The dashing right-hand batsman dazzled in the marquee event and was named the Man of the Tournament. He was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders at the 2018 IPL auction.

KKR had an inexperienced middle-order and the onus was on the likes of Gill and Nitish Rana to deliver the goods. Gill scored 203 runs in 13 matches at a healthy average of 33.83 and an outstanding strike-rate of 146.04. Gill has been a regular in the India A side since then and has extended his purple patch across formats.

The 19-year-old also scored big runs in the Ranji Trophy for his state team Punjab. He was rewarded with a place in the Indian team in the ODI series against New Zealand and made his international debut in the 4th ODI. Gill is surely one for the future and an Emerging Player of the Season award will most certainly do justice to his talent.
