Trent Boult didn't have a great IPL record coming into this tournament, but he dispelled all doubts surrounding his prowess in the T20 format with brilliant displays of swing bowling in the powerplay. The left-armer scalped 25 wickets in just 15 games at an economy rate of 7.97, and was excellent at the death as well.

For his performances with the new ball, Boult was awarded the Power Player of the Season as well as Man of the Match in the final. The Kiwi quick supported Jasprit Bumrah ably and overcame a few injury scares to establish himself as a force to be reckoned with in all formats of the game.

#2 Jasprit Bumrah - 27 wickets in IPL 2020

Jasprit Bumrah was always expected to be in the running for the IPL 2020 Purple Cap, and after starting off the campaign in rough fashion, he came back admirably. The Indian spearhead produced a number of unplayable deliveries while bowling to the best batsmen in the opposition, and delivered whenever called upon by his captain.

Bumrah managed 27 wickets in just 15 games at an economy rate of 6.73, and was mightily close to winning the highest wicket-taker accolade. Unfortunately, he lost out to the man who is #1 on this list - Kagiso Rabada.

#1 Kagiso Rabada - 30 wickets in IPL 2020

The leader of the DC pace attack and one of the best fast bowlers in the world, Kagiso Rabada won the IPL 2020 Purple Cap thanks to a 4-wicket haul against SRH in Qualifier 2. The South African picked up 30 wickets in 17 games at an economy rate of 8.34, and much like Bumrah, bowled all the tough overs.

Rabada was amongst the wickets in almost every game, and picked up the majority of his scalps at the death. The 25-year-old gave it his all every time he stepped onto the field, and was a major force behind DC reaching their first-ever IPL final.
