IPL: 5 top players who never played a single match for Mumbai Indians
Mumbai will regret not giving these players an opportunity.
When you think of the Indian Premier League, the first thing that comes to mind is Mumbai Indians. They are the most successful IPL franchise, having lifted the coveted trophy three times in 10 seasons.
Mumbai have been led by some of the greatest players of all time, including the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma etc while other world-class players like Andrew Symonds, Martin Guptill, Lasith Malinga have had the good fortune to represent the franchise.
However, some players have not been as fortunate, failing to pull on the Mumbai blue even once despite being a part of the squad. Here are five players who have never played a match for Mumbai Indians:
#5 Axar Patel
A spinner who flourished after leaving Mumbai Indians, Axar Patel has established himself as one of India's leading all-rounders. While he really found his calling in IPL 2014 with the Kings XI Punjab where he won the Emerging Player award and was retained ahead of the 2015 season, it was at Mumbai that he began his IPL career - albeit without playing a match.
Axar was part of Mumbai Indians in IPL 2013 but did not manage to play a single game, mainly due to the presence of stalwarts Harbhajan Singh and Pragyan Ojha. Mumbai though did not really need his services as they went on to win the title, beating Chennai Super Kings in the final.
