The stylish right-handed batsman announced his arrival in IPL back in 2017 when he was plying his trade for the Rising Pune Supergiant. The opening batsman looked in ominous touch for the majority of the tournament and played an important role for RPS as they qualified for the finals only to lose to the Mumbai Indians.

He is a free-flowing batsman and owing to the reputation he made for RPS, Rahul Tripathi fetched ₹3.4 crores in the auction last year. Rajasthan Royals bagged his services but he wasn’t utilised properly and he didn’t get an opportunity at the top of the order. He has been shortlisted at the auctions for a base price of ₹20 lakhs and RR might be tempted to get him back at a lesser price.
Tripathi can be a useful option for RR at the top order especially given the fact that Ajinkya Rahane has been traded to Delhi Capitals. Tripathi’s flair and composure at the top of the order might work in favour of RR.
