During the United Arab Emirates leg of the Indian Premier League in 2014, Royal Challengers Bangalore struggled to find their rhythm and won just one match out of their first five fixtures. In their first match in India, the Kohli-led side was pitted against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore.

After winning the toss, the home team chose to bowl first and their bowling unit did a decent job by picking up wickets at regular intervals. David Warner was the only visiting batsmen to trouble the home team. He scored a decent half-century and took his side to a total of 155 at the end of 20 overs.

During the chase, Bangalore was in a spot of bother as they lost Parthiv Patel and Virat Kohli in the second over. Chris Gayle, Rilee Rossouw and Yuvraj Singh too did not trouble the SRH bowlers as they got out for 27(19), 14(23), and 14(16) respectively.

With 59 runs needed off the last five overs, AB de Villiers went all guns blazing. He scored a magnificent 89 off just 41 balls and took his side to victory with one ball to spare. The highlight of the match was ABD scoring 24 runs off the penultimate over bowled by Dale Steyn.
