"I have never won it, Delhi has never won. Let's do it together" - Parth Jindal opens up on chat with KL Rahul after IPL 2025 auction

Delhi Capital's co-owner Parth Jindal shared the details of the chat he had with the franchise's latest marquee acquisition, KL Rahul, after the auctions. Rahul will be a part of the Capitals come 2025.

KL Rahul was previously associated with the newly formed Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) since 2022, and was appointed as the skipper of the franchise. He led the team to consecutive appearances in the playoffs before missing out in the last edition.

Post the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rahul was seen in an animated conversation with Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of LSG. There were speculations that Rahul might enter the auction again and despite regular assurances, Rahul was released by the LSG franchise.

Featuring in Set 2 of the Marquee Players, KL Rahul had interest from there franchises with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Delhi Capitals bidding for the player. In the end, DC acquired the services of KL Rahul for a sum of ₹14 crore.

Parth Jindal opened up on the conversation he had with the 32-year-old, mentioning that he was looking forward to playing at Delhi. Jindal said (via ESPNCricinfo):

"He's very happy, very excited to be part of Delhi. He knows me for a long time. He's a Bangalore (Bengaluru) boy. I own Bengaluru FC (in the Indian Super League), so he's watched a few games with me. I know his wife Athiya (Shetty) really well. She's been a close family friend growing up in Mumbai. "
"So he (Rahul) was like, "I just want to play cricket. I just want to get the love and support from the franchise. I just want to get the respect and I know Parth from you, I will get that and just can't be more excited to play for a friend and let's make Delhi win. I have never won (IPL). Delhi has never won. Let's do it together."

"Can't wait for the season to begin and entertain all of you" - KL Rahul on being acquired by Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals (DC) acquired KL Rahul for ₹14 crore. This will be the fifth franchise Rahul will be playing for having earlier represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

In a video released by DC's official account on X, Rahul had the following to say:

"Hey guys, I am super happy to be joining the Delhi Capitals. A new journey begins for me with the Delhi Capitals and I am super excited. The squad looks really good. Can't wait for the season to begin and come to Delhi and play at the Kotla and entertain all of you. So see you guys there"

The Delhi Capitals management will be tasked with the job of finding a suitable skipper for them. KL Rahul and Axar Patel are two names that are the most common for the franchise.
