RCB senior official granted interim bail after stampede in IPL 2025 Bengaluru celebrations

Senior Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) official Nikhil Sosale has been granted an interim bail after the stampede during the team's IPL 2025 victory celebrations in Bengaluru. RCB won the IPL 2025 season after beating Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final on June 3.

The very next day on June 4, the team had a celebration back home in Bengaluru. However, it turned out into an unfortunate tragedy as 11 people lost their lives, with several injured in a stampede during the celebration. Following the same, Nikhil Sosale, along with two officials from DNA Networks, the event management company associated with RCB, were arrested.

As per ESPN cricinfo, Sosale and the two other officials have been granted an interim bail by the Karnataka High Court. However, the bail comes with certain conditions, such as the surrender of their passports.

Sosale and other RCB officials, who are within the management, will most likely undergo an internal investigation by Diageo, which is the parent company that owns the franchise.

RCB had a memorable IPL 2025 campaign in what became their title-winning season, as they won the trophy for the first time in the history of the league. They were consistent throughout the season, playing brilliant cricket.

The team finished second in the league stage with nine wins and 19 points from 14 matches. They became the only team to win all seven away matches in a single season, showcasing their dominance.

RCB played PBKS in the first qualifier after having secured a top-two finish. In what was a one-sided affair, they beat PBKS by eight wickets to progress straight into the final. Previously, they had played the IPL final thrice in 2009, 2011 and 2016 but had failed to cross the line on all three occasions.

This time around, they came out successful in the final to lift the trophy, winning the game by six runs eventually. With the win, RCB ended their title drought and also put an end to a long wait of 18 years to win the title.
