The TV viewership for IPL 2024 continues to rise, with the first 22 days of the tournament, according to BARC data.

Disney Star, the official broadcaster of IPL 2024, has achieved a cumulative reach of 44.8 crore viewers for the first 22 days with 18,000 crore minutes of total watch time. There is also an eight percent growth in the cumulative reach of the live telecast from last season and a 15 percent rise in the match ratings (TVR).

The first 22 days saw 26 matches being played until the Lucknow Super Giants and the Delhi Capitals clash on April 12. The highly anticipated encounter between the Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 11 saw an incredible 14.75 crore TV viewers and 1,017 crore minutes of IPL coverage on the Disney Star Network.

Apart from the above numbers, the broadcaster's official statement also said:

"As the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup approaches, the ongoing TATA IPL is providing a prime opportunity for viewers and India’s squad selectors to closely evaluate players’ performances, especially focusing on openers, all-rounders, and wicketkeepers. Star Sports, as the broadcaster of the TATA IPL and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, will keep fans up-to-date with all the latest action and player performances, offering insights and analyses that build anticipation and excitement for the upcoming global tournament."

This is after IPL 2024 set the all-time record for opening Day TV viewership at 16.8 crore viewers with a watch time of 1,276 crore minutes.


How IPL 2024 has progressed nearing the halfway stage

The on-field action in IPL 2024 has been nothing short of fascinating, with almost 10 teams still scrapping to finish in the top four.

The Rajasthan Royals are sitting comfortably at the top with six wins in seven games, while the Kolkata Knight Riders, the SunRisers Hyderabad, and the Chennai Super Kings occupy positions 2 to 4 with an identical record of four wins in six outings.

Meanwhile, four teams, the Lucknow Super Giants, the Delhi Capitals, the Mumbai Indians, and the Gujarat Titans are on three wins. Lucknow, meanwhile, have an extra game in hand, having played only six to the seven by the other three teams.

The Punjab Kings are second to bottom with only two wins in seven matches, while the Royal Challengers Bengaluru are languishing at the bottom with the lone win in seven games.
