Rajasthan Royals batter Yashasvi Jaiswal engaged in a wholesome moment with cricket legend Brian Lara on Monday (April 22).

The moment came after Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 104 off 60 against Mumbai Indians to help the Royals secure a dominating nine-wicket victory. The southpaw was ecstatic with his knock, as he finally converted a start into a big knock.

During the first half of the IPL 2024 season, Jaiswal's best knock of 39 came against Punjab Kings. After the MI game, he has now amassed 225 runs in eight innings at an average of 32.14 and a strike rate of 157.34.

Here is the heartfelt video of the moment between Jaiswal and Lara posted by RR's official account on X:

Following the game, Brian Lara praised Yashasvi Jaiswal's instinct to score runs at a quick rate, without having an aggressive mindset. He further pointed out that Jaiswal displayed maturity to stay until the end to seal a big chase. Here's what Lara said on Star Sports:

"Yeah, it's a beautiful innings by the young man. And, when I say, you know, you don't have to be that aggressive, he still scores at a very high strike-rate."
"Great cricketing shots. And anyone knows, if you're chasing such a total at Jaipur and you've got through the innings, then your team is gonna get there," the former Caribbean batter added. "So he took a lot of responsibility, a lot of maturity, and I'm very happy for the young man."

Yashasvi Jaiswal's century helps RR maintain dominance in IPL 2024

Mumbai Indians batted first against Rajasthan Royals on Monday in Jaipur. They got off to a disappointing start, losing Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammad Nabi, which sent them reeling at 52/4.

However, Tilak Varma (65) and Nehal Wadhera (49) were sensational in soaking up the pressure and boosting MI to 179.

In response, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal provided a good start to the Royals. They added 74 runs in eight overs before Buttler was dismissed for 35 off 25. Thereafter, Sanju Samson (38) supported Jaiswal (104) well, as they sealed the chase with eight balls to spare.

With this victory, RR solidified their spot at the top with seven wins in eight league matches. Meanwhile, MI are seventh in the points table with three victories in eight appearances.
