Mumbai Indians (MI) suffered a nine-wicket defeat against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in match number 38 of IPL 2024 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday, April 22. Batting first after winning the toss, MI were held to 179-9 before RR romped home in 18.4 overs.

Mumbai got off to a disastrous start with the bat, losing Rohit Sharma for 6 to Trent Boult, while Ishan Kishan perished for a duck to Sandeep Sharma. Suryakumar Yadav fell to Sharma for 10, and it was left to Tilak Varma (65 off 45) and Nehal Wadhera (49 off 24) to lift the side. Yashasvi Jaiswal's ton, though, ensured a thumping win for the Royals.

Monday's defeat was MI's fifth loss in eight matches. They will look to regroup when they face Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday, April 27.

Can MI rediscover their winning touch against DC?

The Mumbai vs Delhi encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 27 will be match number 43 of the tournament. This will be a day game, which will get underway at 3:30 pm IST. The toss will take place at 3:00 pm IST.

Like Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals have also won only three of their eight matches. DC, however, are below MI in the points table on net run rate.

When the two teams met in the first half of IPL 2024 at the Wankhede on April 7. Mumbai registered a comprehensive 29-run win. Batting first, they put up 234-5 before restricting Delhi to 205-8.

Delhi Capitals recovered well after the hammering, beating Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets in an away game and knocking over Gujarat Titans for 89, again registering a six-wicket triumph at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

In their previous match, DC were hammered by Sunrisers Hyderabad by 67 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Batting first, Hyderabad put up a huge total of 266-7, with Travis Head slamming 89 off 32, Abhishek Sharma 46 off 12 and Shahbaz Ahmed 59* off 29.

In the chase, Jake Fraser-McGurk (65 off 18) and Abishek Porel (42 off 22) briefly gave the team hope. However, they were bowled out for 199 in 19.1 overs as T Natarajan produced excellent figures of 4-19.
