It was the 35th match of IPL 2014 between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals at Bangalore. The Royals were in a good position with 5 wins from 8 matches. RCB's position from 8 matches was the exact opposite. They had lost 5 matches and were on a two-match losing streak.

RCB batted first but were off to a poor start as they lost Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, and Vijay Zol early. The Royal Challengers were 40/3 in 8.1 overs when AB de Villiers and Yuvraj Singh were at the crease.

The duo began smashing the Rajasthan bowlers all across the ground and were dealing mainly in sixes. Yuvi was the aggressor while De Villiers made the most out of the opportunity whenever he was on strike.

Yuvi and ABD added 132 for the 4th wicket from just 65 deliveries which was a new record. The duo bettered the 131-run stand between De Villiers and Gayle against Kings XI Punjab in 2012.

The partnership came to an end when Yuvi was dismissed for a brilliant 83 from 38 deliveries. ABD went on to make 58 from 32 balls before being dismissed. RCB posted 190/5.

However, some terrific batting from Karun Nair, Steve Smith, and James Faulkner won the match for RR with 7 balls to spare.
