WATCH: Jadeja’s insane shot off Stokes for a six and Dhoni patting his helmet with the bat
What’s the story?
Ravindra Jadeja turned out to be one of the heroes for Chennai Super Kings at Jaipur as his six off Ben Stokes in the last over of the game helped CSK in their win. It was a sensational shot from Jadeja in the first ball of the 20th over, which left him floored.
In case you didn’t know
Chennai Super Kings beat Rajasthan Royals in a drama-filled contest at Jaipur on Wednesday. It needed a last-ball six from Mitchell Santner to seal the game for CSK. Put in to bat first, Royals scored 151 runs in 20 overs. Royals batsmen struggled to assert themselves and none of them crossed 30 runs.
Despite losing four early wickets in the chase, MS Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu led Chennai’s recovery and pulled off a great win in the end. With six wins in seven games, CSK are the table-toppers at the moment and once again in a great position to qualify for the playoffs.
The heart of the matter
It was never an easy chase for CSK. From 24/4, Chennai reached a stage where they needed 18 runs off the final over. With Jadeja and Dhoni at the crease, every possible result was on the cards. Stokes bowled the final over and Jadeja played one of the insane shots we have ever witnessed.
The first ball of the 20th over was full outside off and Jadeja was forced to reach out for it. Even then, he was able to generate a lot of force behind the shot while falling down. He struck it over the bowlers head for a six. He was lying flat on the ground after the shot as Dhoni tried to take a run. After seeing the ball sailed over for a six, Dhoni went near Jadeja and patted his helmet with the bat. It was an incredible shot by Ravindra Jadeja.
