Max Verstappen is one of the youngest competitors to be a race winner in Formula 1. He is considered one of the greatest drivers in F1 history, and now he is a four-time world Formula 1 champion. Verstappen was born on September 30, 1997, in Hasselt, Belgium. He is the son of former Dutch F1 driver Jos Verstappen and former kart racer Sophie Kumpen. His racing career started at age four while driving karts.

When he was seven, he participated in the national karting championship. In 2005, he won his first champion trophy by winning the VAS karting league. Upgrading himself through the junior races, Verstappen entered into Formula 4 with Manor MP. In 2014, Verstappen made his official F1 debut at the Japanese Grand Prix, making him the youngest racer to drive in the practice session in F1 history. As of May 2025, with four drivers' titles and 65 race wins, Verstappen is one of the highest-paid athletes in the world.

Max Verstappen’s Contract

Max Verstappen signed a multi-year contract in 2022 to drive for Red Bull Racing until 2028, according to Sky Sports F1. The Dutchman has been part of the team since 2016. The contract is valued at $275 million, making Verstappen the highest-paid F1 driver on the grid, as per Spotrac.

Max Verstappen’s Salary

Max Verstappen's current salary is estimated at around $65 million, as per Spotrac. In 2025, he is the 24th highest-paid athlete, with $78 million in total earnings, according to Forbes.

Verstappen’s total earnings also depend on the number of brand endorsements he does. He has multi-year brand deals with Alpha Tauri, Red Bull Racing, and energy drink Red Bull. He is the brand ambassador for both EA Sports and Heineken. For the 2025 season, Verstappen would be making $6 million through personal branding and endorsements, as per a report by Motorsport.com.
