Lewis Hamilton’s Parents

Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton is a British Formula One racing driver currently racing for the Mercedes Formula One team. He has won the Formula One World Championship 7 times, equaling the record set by Michael Schumacher. Lewis Hamilton was a young protégé that started his career at McLaren in 2007 driving alongside 2-time World Champion Fernando Alonso.


Lewis would win his first title with McLaren in just his second year in 2008 by beating Ferrari's Felipe Massa by just a single point. In 2012, Lewis Hamilton decided to leave McLaren and join Mercedes in what would become a career-defining move. Lewis would go on to win as many as 6 titles with the German outfit.


Hamilton was born in Stevenage, England on January 7th, 1985. He started karting at the age of eight and became the youngest driver to win the British Cadet Karting Championship at the age of 10. The Briton also won the GP2 championship in 2006, proving his unique skill at an early age. Lewis Hamilton won his maiden title in 2008, making him the youngest driver to do so at the time. After a period of turmoil with McLaren, the driver went on to dominate the turbo-hybrid era by a long mile, with only Max Verstappen having pipped him in 2021.

Lewis Hamilton was born to father Anthony Hamilton and mother Carmen Larbalestier. His parents split up when Hamilton was just two years old and spent most of his childhood with his father. He has a paternal step-brother Nicholas – also a racing driver. His stepmother is Linda Hamilton. Anthony Hamilton was Lewis’s manager until 2010 when he decided to drop him from that post. Hamilton recently added his birth mother Carmen Larbalestier’s to his full legal name.
