A Formula One season consists of a series of formula one races, known as Grand Prix’s, which are held in the purpose built racing tracks or street circuits (Monaco and Singapore, the public roads are closed for F1 races) around the world.

The results of each races are evaluated using a point system and the F1 World Championship is awarded for an entire season which is the F1 Drivers World Championship and F1 Constructors World Championship.

The Cars

F1 cars are the fastest open wheel racing cars in the world with the most advance level of engineering going into production of these cars. It is often regarded as the most technically advanced sport in the world.

F1 cars have constantly evolved with time. The F1 cars can generally be divided into the Supercharged era, the Turbocharged era, Aerodynamic era and the current generation cars fall under the hybrid era.

The F1 cars underwent major changes after a technical regulation change in 2017, the current cars have much wider front and rear wings, and also wider tires, and the cars reach a top of around 375 kmph with highly advanced electronic systems to make wing adjustments, gear changes and brake bias to name a few.

The Drivers

Its every race car driver's dream to be a F1 world champion. Drivers from around the world take part in the F1 Grand Prix’s. Some of the most famous names in the sport are Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Mika Hakkinen, Jenson Button, Fernando Alonso, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Niki Lauda, Juan Manuel Fangio and Sir. Jackie Stewart to name a few.

The highest number of world championships titles was won by Michael Schumacher with a record number 7, Juan Manuel Fangio with 5 titles to his credit, Alian Prost, Sebastian Vettel and Hamilton have 4 titles each to their credit.

The two main championship contenders in the 2018 season Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel have the chance of equaling Fangio’s record if either one of them win the championship.

The teams

The F1 can be classified into an entrant and a constructor. An entrant is the person or a corporate that registers a car and driver for a race who is all responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the the car during the race weekend.

In accordance to the FIA regulations, "the constructor of an engine or chassis is the person which owns the intellectual rights to such engine or chassis".The Constructors World Championship is awarded to the car "maker" who has socred maximum points over the course of a F1 season, where a car's make takes into account both engine and chassis. Hence, if a car's chassis and engine constructor are the same (Scuderia Ferrari, Mercedes, Renault) then the make is the name of that one constructor. When the chassis and engine are constructed by different entities the car's make comprises both (Force India Mercedes, McLaren- Renault, Haas Ferrari), the name of the chassis constructor placed before the engine constructor.

The most successful team of all times and the oldest team in F1 is Ferrari with 231 wins and 16 World championships to their credit. Mclaren have won 182 races and 8 World Championships and Williams have won 114 races and 9 World Championships.
