RBC Heritage

The RBC Heritage is a South Carolina-based PGA Tour event that was first held in 1969 and won by Arnold Palmer. For the majority of its history, it was known as the Heritage Classic or simply The Heritage. First played in late November, it was rescheduled to mid-September 1973, then to March 1974, and finally to April 1983.

RBC has been its sponsor since 2012, and the event is organized by the Heritage Classic Foundation. Currently, it takes place in Augusta, Georgia, usually a week preceding the Masters.

It has historically taken place at one of the best courses, Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island's Harbour Town Golf Links. Famous golf course architect Pete Dye, with help from Jack Nicklaus (1975 champ), created the Harbour Town course.

Who won the PGA RBC Heritage 2024?

Scottie Scheffler won the 2024 RBC Heritage in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. As of April 2024, world No. 1 Scheffler had secured his fourth victory of the season there. He took home the $3.6 million winner's share of the $20 million total.

For the second time in two months, Scheffler went back-to-back with a victory, having won four of his previous five starts. He needed to complete three holes on the morning in order to accomplish a final-round 67 and win by three strokes for a score of 265, under 19.

Sahith Theegala managed to finish in solo second place with a 16-under total, edging off Patrick Cantlay and Wyndham Clark by one shot.

Who won the PGA RBC Heritage 2023?

Matt Fitzpatrick defeated Jordan Spieth and won the RBC Heritage, his second victory on the PGA Tour, with a 9-iron from 186 yards to inches on the renowned 18th hole, the third playoff hole.

The 2022 U.S. Open champion, Fitzpatrick, finished with a 72-hole total of 17-under 267 after shooting a final-round 3-under 68. Additionally, he moved up the Official World Golf Ranking to a career-high eighth position.

At 17-under-267, Jordan Spieth and Fitzpatrick tied for the lead at the end of regulation, necessitating a playoff that started on the par-4 18th hole. Both of Spieth's birdie putts were close to missing in the first two playoff holes.

Fitzpatrick, however, made a guaranteed birdie on the third playoff hole, which is back on No. 18, when he drove his second shot with a 9-iron to within two feet. Spieth missed the 45-foot putt that he needed to make to even the score.

After making three birdies in his last four holes to shoot 66 and finish a stroke ahead of Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay birdied the final hole to take sole third place.
