American professional golfer Lauren Coughlin was born on September 27, 1992. She went to Hickory High School and then joined the University of Virginia in 2011, graduating in 2016. She won a total of four amateur titles between 2012 and 2016. However, she has been playing golf since the age of seven in 1999, winning Chesapeake Scholar Athlete consecutively three times from 2008 to 2010. Further, she also won the Virginia State Golf Association Girls Championship in 2009 and 2014.

In 2016, she ranked world No. 31 in the World Golf Amateur Rankings and turned professional later that year. Initially playing on the Symetra Tour (now the Epson Tour), she won her first pro win at the 2018 PHC Classic and found her way to the LPGA Tour. However, her first LPGA win came six seasons later at the 2024 CPKC Women's Open, followed by the ISPS Handa Women's Scottish Open.

Who is Lauren Coughlin's Husband?

Lauren Coughlin’s husband is Josh Pond.

Pond, a former football player for the University of Virginia, did development work for UVA in Charlottesville, as per SB Nation. In 2024, he quit his job to work as a full-time caddie for his wife, Coughlin, beginning in April.

In an interview with SB Nation’s Streaking the Lawn, Coughlin stated:

“I got married in 2018 to my wonderful husband and former UVA football player, John Pond. We got married in the UVA Chapel and our reception was in the Colonnade Club (Pavilion VII). It was a very UVA wedding. My coach’s husband married us; most of my bridesmaids were former teammates of mine. My husband works for the university in development, so we still reside in Charlottesville. We go to every football game and basketball game I can when I am in town. It’s usually only a couple for me since I travel roughly 30 weeks a year.”

How long have Lauren Coughlin and Josh Pond been married?

Lauren Coughlin and Josh Pond have been married for seven years as of February 2025.

Coughlin and Pond started dating after meeting at a football Christmas party at the University of Virginia in 2012. Pond proposed to Coughlin after the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals, and the two were married on January 20, 2018.

On January 20, 2024, Coughlin wished her husband on Instagram with the caption, "Happy 7th Anniversary @john_pond60 ❤️❤️. She posted a couple of pictures too.

As Coughlin described it, Pond, a Cavaliers football player at the time, caddied for his then-girlfriend at a few state amateur events and served as a “moral support role.” After she turned professional, Pond continued caddying for her now and then, balancing with his job. Until March 2024, when Coughlin split with her usual caddie, Pond was hired for a full-time caddie position.

But, initially, Coughlin wanted to try it out for three weeks before committing to it, as she said, at the 2024 Chevron Championship.

"So I was like, ‘Okay, I will have you caddie for me Palos Verdes, and then just see who I can get.’ I was like, ‘Okay, I’ll give you these three weeks. I’ll know after three weeks if we can do it.'"

Thus, after three weeks, Pond became her caddie.
