Sahith Theegala, a professional golfer from America, was born in Orange, California, U.S., on December 4, 1997. He is of Indian descent; his family immigrated to the US from Telangana, India, in the late 1980s. He completed his graduation from Pepperdine University. During his amateur career, he won 11 times, including the 2017 Sahalee Players Championship and the 2019 SCGA Amateur Championship.

He turned professional in 2020 and made his debut on the Outlaw Tour at the 2020 Lone Tree Classic, where he finished tied for third place. In the same year, he played at the Safeway Open, and finished tied for 14th place.

On sponsors' exemptions, Theegala participated in a few PGA Tour events in 2020–21. As a non-member, he earned enough points to qualify for the 2021 Korn Ferry Tour Finals. After that, he placed sixth at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship and T-4 at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship.

Finally, Theegala earned a spot on the PGA Tour for the 2021–2022 season with back-to-back top-10 results in the Korn Ferry Tour Finals. His first professional win was at the 2022 QBE Shootout, where, with Tom Hoge, they defeated Charley Hoffman and Ryan Palmer by a single stroke, with a score of 182, under 34.

While on the PGA Tour, his best finish in the 2022 season was at the Travelers Championship, where he tied for second place with J. T. Poston, losing to Xander Schauffele, by a single stroke.

Next season, he again had a few top-10s at the RSM Classic and Genesis Invitational, followed by his first professional PGA Tour win at the 2023 Fortinet Championship, over Kim Seong-hyeon by a score of 267, under 21, by two strokes.

Carl has been Theegala's looper since 2021 and has been caddying for several other golfers like Andrew Putnam & Cameron Tringale since 2015. Smith was the assistant coach at Pepperdine University, which was Theegala's alma mater; he told Golf Monthly that he was recruited by Smith during his time at Pepperdine.

After working for Andrew Putnam, Carl jumped to Sahith's bag and became his full-time caddie, according to Golf Digest. Sahith has achieved various accomplishments throughout his career, which include third place at the WM Phoenix Open (2022), runner-up in the RSM Classic (2022) and winning the Fortinet Championship in September 2023.

In an interview, Carl Smith said that Sahith has a unique ability to shape the ball around the trees, which has impressed him so much. They both share a strong bond that goes beyond their working relationship and acknowledge that they often just talk about basketball and the Lakers, rarely about golf.
