The Sentry 2024, TV Schedule & Telecast

The Sentry Tournament of Champions 2024 will be contested from January 3–7, 2024, at the Kapalua Resort (The Plantation Course), Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii, with a purse of $20,000,000, with the winner's share of $3.6 million. Jon Rahm won the tournament by a comfortable margin of 27-under-265 the year before and took home the $2,700,000 winner's share of the $15,000,000 total.

An annual tradition, The Sentry opens the PGA Tour. This year, invitations were sent to players who had qualified for the Tour Championship instead of just those who had won a tour event the year before. In 1953, the tournament was established.

From 1986 to 2013, it was the opening tour event of the year. In the fall of 2013, the PGA Tour moved to a wrap-around schedule, with September and August as the start and finish months. Cameron Smith won in 2022 with the lowest 72-hole-to-par score (−34) in PGA Tour history.

The Sentry Tournament was previously broadcast on ESPN, ABC's cable partner. It's because, initially, at LaCosta, ABC Sports broadcasted the weekend rounds on a regular basis. But, following the 1999 relocation to Hawaii, network television struggled to adjust to the time change.

In 2007, The Golf Channel started broadcasting four rounds of coverage of the event. Later, in 2012, NBC Sports began airing weekend play in addition to presenting the new Monday final round for its sister network, Golf Channel.

Furthermore, in early 2018, Golf Channel and NBC alternated coverage from Thursday through Sunday. On weekends when it didn't conflict with the network's NFL playoff game broadcasts, NBC covered golf.
