Wyndham Clark, the American pro golfer, is ranked world no. 11 as of April 2025, according to the Official World Golf Rankings. Being born on December 9, 1993, he had his first amateur win by the age of 16 at the 2009 Colorado State Championship. After winning two more amateur wins, he turned professional in 2017. In the 2023 Wells Fargo Championship, Clark defeated Xander Schauffele to record his first professional victory. The next month, he defeated four-time major winner Rory McIlroy by a single stroke to win his maiden major at the 2023 US Open.

Clark also came very close to earning his fourth PGA Tour title at the 2024 Players Championship but finished tied for runner-up with Brian Harman and Xander Schauffele, losing to Scottie Scheffler. His most recent win was at the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, ahead of Ludvig Aberg. However, he failed to make the cut in both the 2024 Masters Tournament and the PGA Championship.

Wyndham Clark’s Caddie

Wyndham Clark’s caddie is John Ellis, as of April 2025.

John Ellis began his professional golf career in 2003 and has played on the Canadian Tour, the Web.com Tour, and the PGA Tour. He participated in the U.S. Open in 2008 and 2011 and won the 2008 Canadian Tour Player of the Year award. He missed the cut in both of the U.S. Opens, shooting rounds of 70s in both. He also played in nine PGA Tour events and won three titles on the Canadian Tour. In the 2010 Frys.com Open, he tied for 24th place, his then-best. Also, Ellis participated in 16 Web.com Tour events. In the 2006 Oregon Classic presented by Kendall Automotive Group, he placed 13th, the best of his career.

Ellis played collegiate golf at the University of Oregon, his alma mater, and then joined the university's coaching staff as an assistant coach. Clark attended the same university after leaving Oklahoma State; thus, this is where they first met, under head coach Casey Martin. According to the Caddie Diaries, they have been working together for over eight years as of April 2025.

The reason that their caddie-player relationship took off quickly was largely due to Ellis's ability to bring out the best in Clark, as Martin told Adam Schupak of Golfweek:

"John did an unbelievable job for a guy that’s never coached before. He and Wyndham hit it off. He has an amazing ability to kind of tease Wyndham and to get his point across without being overly serious. He absolutely nailed it.”
