Xander Schauffele, an American professional golfer, was raised in San Diego, California. He attended Scripps Ranch High School before graduating in 2012. He first enrolled at California State University, Long Beach, before switching to San Diego State University for his sophomore year. During his amateur career, from 2011 to 2015, he won five titles, including the California State Amateur Championship. He turned professional in 2015 and has since won 12 professional titles, including two majors, in the PGA Championship and the Open Championship in the 2024 season. He also won a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the individual men's event. He also has a 2018 WGC-HSBC Champions win over Tony Finau and a 2017 Tour Championship win over Justin Thomas.

Xander Schauffele’s mother, Chen Ping-Yi, was born in Taiwan and raised in Japan, while his father, Stefan, is German-French and was born in Stuttgart. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Schauffele had the option to represent China-Taipei, Germany, or France, but he decided to represent his native country, the United States. His gold medal was particularly meaningful since he had lots of relatives in and near Tokyo. He dedicated his win to his father, Stefan, who wanted to be an Olympian as a decathlete but wasn't able to due to injuries. He also participated in the 2024 Paris Olympics but finished in ninth place.

Schauffele competed for the United States in the 2019 Presidents Cup, winning three of his five matches against an international field of non-European golfers. He had his first Ryder Cup appearance in 2021. After two appearances in 2021 and 2023, Schauffele's all-time Ryder Cup record is four wins and four defeats. His record in four-ball matches is one win, one loss, and zero ties. Further, he has two wins and two losses in foursomes play and one win, one loss, and zero ties in singles matches.
