The upcoming Chase the Skies game drop in Minecraft is set to introduce the much-awaited happy ghasts, a new mob that allows up to four players to travel the overworld and fly across biomes with ease. The mob can rise to massive heights, allowing players to access the tops of mountains or build sky bases with ease without the risk or worry of falling or running out of temporary blocks.
Apart from being a game-changing way to explore the overworld, the happy ghast could be the key to a much-needed expansion in Minecraft — the introduction of an aether or sky biome. Over the years, the addition of an aerial biome has been one of the most-requested features, with players hoping that Mojang would utilize the free real estate sitting above them.
Since the happy ghast can travel great heights, it could pave the way for a future update where players use the mob to access an aerial biome or structure with its unique ecosystem, blocks, vegetation, and more. The developers could introduce something akin to floating islands, allowing gamers to use the mob's ability of flight to reach it and reap exclusive loot and rewards.
Apart from a biome, it could also introduce floating aerial structures of shrines, similar to the ocean monuments underwater. These shrines could contain exclusive items like enchanted weapons or even the coveted elytra, a crucial item in the game.
Additionally, the seamless navigation using the happy ghast makes it the perfect transportation squad for single-player as well as multiplayer worlds, allowing teams to move together with ease. Paired with the player locator bar, aerial biomes could become a seamless addition to the ever-expanding list of features and changes in the bestselling sandbox title.
Players will have to wait and see if the developers take this major feature into account and implement some or all of this concept in a future update. With game drops replacing standard updates, Mojang has a wider scope of opportunities to introduce major new features and changes without relying on a single annual update.
