The New War update is the most extensive single-player quest in Warframe. The long-winded campaign to take on the Narmer and Ballas had players don the cape of numerous characters - a first in the game. Among their particular segments, Teshin was arguably the fan favorite. Much of it comes down to the slick playstyle of his twin melee. This signature set of Nikanas, Sun and Moon, is available now with the Duviri Paradox update.
The developers of Warframe have expanded the number of options available to Nikana-loving players in the past with the Two-handed Nikana category, of which there are currently five in the game. The Sun and Moon, however, is the only one of its kind - a dual Nikana with an exclusive stance mod called, Mountain's Edge.
How to unlock the Sun and Moon in Warframe
Thus far, The Sun and Moon is the only weapon the Drifter uses in the Duviri open world. The way to obtain it is also linked to Duviri. If you are a returning player, you will have to complete the Duviri Paradox quest and the weapon blueprint will be sent to your inventory.
The weapon can be crafted for 30,000 Credits in the Foundry with 100 Kovnik, 35 Rune Marrow, 40 Lamentus, and 45 Silphsela. These resources can only be obtained exclusively in the Duviri open world, meaning you will naturally find a lot of it if you do Duviri spirals regularly.
- Kovnik and Silphsela can be harvested in the fields of Duviri.
- Lamentus drops from the Dax enemies in Duviri.
- Rune Marrow can be found in containers unique to Underforge.
If you have accidentally sold your Sun and Moon, the unique blueprint cannot be farmed anywhere in Warframe. However, you can still purchase another built copy from the market for a hefty 250 Platinum. Alternatively, you can get one copy of the blueprint from Cephalon Simaris in any Relay for 100,000 standing.
Are the Sun and Moon any good?
As a disclaimer, it should be noted that the Sun and Moon during regular Warframe gameplay do not behave quite the same as it does in Duviri. First and foremost, you still cannot use melee on the Drifter outside Duviri. Secondly, the unique block-heavy attack combo that launches a wave of electric damage is also unavailable thus far.
Outside the unique selling point of being its new category of Nikana, the Sun and Moon do not have much going for it. It only deals a guaranteed slash proc once every two heavy attacks. Despite its good base damage, it does not outclass the best of its sister categories - Nikana Prime or Tennant. For newer players who choose the Duviri Path, however, the weapon can be crafted relatively early on, thanks to resource accessibility. In this early stage of the game, the weapon remains quite powerful, with few peers matching it.
