Dominik Mysterio

Dominik Gutiérrez is an American professional wrestler signed with WWE. He is a former SmackDown Tag Team Champion and is currently assigned to RAW. He is the son of WWE legend and Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio. The Mysterios are the first and, so far, the only father-son duo to win the tag team championships in WWE. Currently, he is a member of Judgment Day.

Early Life

Dominik Mysterio is of American-Mexican heritage as he is born and raised up in the United States of America but his family is Mexican. He was born on the 5th of April, 1997 in San Diego, California.

Professional Wrestling Career

WWE (2003-Present)

Eddie Guerrero and Sporadic Appearances (2003-2010)

Dominik has been involved in wrestling since the age of 10. He has appeared on WWE television on several occasions when his father won several championships. In 2005, Dominik was involved in a feud with Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero. At SummerSlam, Dominik's custody was on the line when Rey Mysterio faced Eddie Guerrero in a ladder match. In 2010, Dominik and his family were in attendance for weeks during Mysterio's rivalry with CM Punk.

Debut and Team with Rey Mysterio (2019-2022)

In October, Brock Lesnar brutally attacked Dominik and Rey Mysterio on RAW. At Survivor Series, Dominik interfered in a match between Mysterio and Lesnar but failed to get the job done. In 2020, Dominik and Rey Mysterio began feuding with Seth Rollins and Murphy. The feud went on for over six months and Dominik made his in-ring debut. At SummerSlam, Dominik lost to Seth Rollins. The Mysterios finally defeated Seth Rollins when Murphy began assisting the Mysterios. In December, The Mysterios began working in the tag team division.

In 2021, The Mysterios defeated The Dirty Dawgs to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. At the Money in the Bank event, The Usos defeated The Mysterios to win the title. During the Draft, The Mysterios were drafted to RAW. At WrestleMania 38, The Mysterios lost to The Miz and Logan Paul.

The father-son duo then went on to have an extended feud with The Judgment Day. Finn Balor, Damian Priest, and Rhea Ripley attacked both Rey and Dominik Mysterio every week. The odds were evened when Edge made his return at SummerSlam and allied himself with the duo.

Alliance with The Judgment Day (2022 - Present)

At Clash at the Castle, Edge, and Rey Mysterio defeated Balor and Priest. However, after the match, Dominik snapped and attacked both Edge and his father. After the event, he joined the Judgement Day and helped the stable attack Edge. At Crown Jewel 2022, Balor, Priest, and Dominik defeated AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson in a six-man tag team match.

During Thanksgiving, Dominik invited Ripley to celebrate with his family, but Rey refused to let them in. This led to an attack by Dominik and Ripley on Rey. On Christmas Eve, they went to Dominik's grandparent's home, where a heated confrontation broke out between Dominik, Ripley, Rey, and Angie. Dominik pushed Rey, and Angie slapped Ripley. The police arrived shortly after and arrested Dominik as part of the storyline.

Dominik unsuccessfully challenged for the WWE World Tag Team Championship alongside Damian Priest. He entered the Royal Rumble at #18 but was eliminated by the eventual winner Cody Rhodes. He would then go on to provoke his father until Rey finally hit him back. The father and son then went on to lock horns at WrestleMania.

At the Grandest Stage of Them All, it was Rey Mysterio who emerged victorius following interferences from The Judgment Day, Legado Del Fantasma, and Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny. The following night, Dominik got into a confrontation with Bad Bunny leading to Damian Priest attacking the rapper. This resulted in a match at WWE Backlash, which Bunny won by defeating Priest.

In June 2022, Dominik got into a confrontation with Cody Rhodes. The two battled it out at Money in the Bank where Mysterio lost. In July, he went to NXT and won the NXT North American Championship by defeating Wes Lee. Following this victory, he would continue to make appearances on both the main roster and NXT for defending his title. He lost the belt to Trick Williams at NXT No Mercy before winning it back just three days later on October 3, 2023.

He teamed up with his partners Drew McIntyre, Damian Priest, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh at Survivor Series: WarGames against Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn and Randy Orton where Team Rhodes won. At NXT Deadline, he was booked to defend the gold against Wes Lee who could not compete due to sustaining an injury. Thus, he was replaced by Dragon Lee who went on to beat Mysterio for the title.

Rey Mysterio (Father)

As every WWE fan might be aware, Dominik Mysterio is the son of the wrestling legend Rey Mysterio. The first time fans met Dominik was in the WWE programming way back in 2004. At that time, there was a feud going on between Rey Mysterio and his dearest friend Eddie Guerrero Jr. where the two fought over the custody of Dominik.

Rey Mysterio won that feud. Since his debut in 2020, Dominik Mysterio had constantly been a support for his father. The two also became the first-ever father-son duo to win the WWE Tag Team Championship. However, Dominik turned on his father in the programming in 2022 and the two went frustrated with each other leading to a match at WrestleMania Hollywood.

Angie Mysterio (Mother)

Angie Mysterio has made a few appearances on the WWE programming to support his husband Rey Mysterio. Dominik, Aalyah and Angie made appearances in 2006 where they saw Mysterio from the ringside. During the buildup to WrestleMania 39, Dominik yelled at her mother to "shut up" on the programming which infuriated Rey. The latter had been trying not to get physical with his son but couldn't stop himself from doing so after this very act.

Aalyah Mysterio (Sister)

Both Dominik and Aalyah Mysterio had been making appearances at the ringside from a young age. Aalyah is the younger sister of Dominik Mysterio. She was a crucial figure in Dominik's first major storyline in WWE involving Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy.

Dominik Mysterio had been dating Marie Juliette since the 8th of November, 2011. The two finally got engaged on the 2nd of January in 2023. he two got married to each other on March 6, 2024 in a ceremony that was attended by fellow WWE wrestlers including his friends Austin Theory, Rhea Ripley, Damian Priest and his father Rey Mysterio.
