Early Life and Career
Jamie Pickett had a difficult upbringing, living with his grandparents in Chinquapin, North Carolina due to his father being incarcerated and his mother struggling with drug addiction. Pickett dropped out of high school and began training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu at the age of 19, eventually transitioning to mixed martial arts in 2009. After some early losses, Pickett went on to win six straight fights, including a unanimous decision victory over Rashawn Spencer at Conflict MMA 42 Charlotte.
Pickett competed on Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series twice, first losing to Charles Byrd via technical submission in the first round during season one, and then losing to Punahele Soriano by unanimous decision in season 17. He then won fights against Crishian Torres at 864 Fighting Championship and Elijah Gobille at Next Level Fight Club 10.
In season 30 of Dana White's Contender Series, Pickett was the headliner and defeated Jhonven Pati via TKO in the second round, earning a contract with the UFC.

Pickett lost his UFC promotional debut against Tafon Nchukwi at UFC Fight Night: Thompson vs. Neal via unanimous decision in December 2020. He suffered another loss in his next fight against Jordan Wright at UFC 262 via TKO in the first round.
Pickett won his fight against Laureano Staropoli at UFC Fight Night: Costa vs. Vettori via unanimous decision in October 2021. He then won his next fight against Joseph Holmes at UFC on ESPN 32 via unanimous decision in January 2022.
