Kyle Hope: A Brief Biography

Kyle Hope Biography

Kyle Antonio Hope is a cricketer who plays for the West Indies. Born on the 20th of November, 1988 in Barbados, Hope is a right-handed middle order batsman. He is the elder brother of Shai Hope, who is also a part of the West Indies cricket team.

Background

Hope started his domestic career with Barbados. In the 12 first class matches spread over four seasons, Kyle averaged just 19.90.

After his poor record, Hope was dropped from the team and he switched over to Trinidad and Tobago, which proved to be a great move. He scored four fifties in the debut season and finished as the second highest run scorer in the following season with 649 runs at an average of 49.92.

Debut

At the age of 29, Kyle made his One Day International debut on the 30th of June, 2017 at North Sound. He scored just 19 runs off 35 balls as West Indies lost the match by 93 runs.

He got good starts in the following matches also but failed to convert them into any big scores. These starts earned him a spot in test XI against England on the 17th of August, 2017.

However, he failed again as he scored only 30 runs in two innings in a game that the Windies lost by an innings.

Rise to Glory

It is said that Kyle Hope emulates the footwork of Marlon Samuels and Carl Hooper’s hand-eye coordination. Hope’s highest score in ODIs came against the Indians in the 5th ODI in his debut series in 2017 where he scored 46 runs.

Low Points

Kyle Hope lost his spot in the test side after a string of poor performances. He was dropped from the squad for the New Zealand tour in November 2017.

His current stats in international cricket display an average below 20, which is simply not good enough to gain him a spot in the XI.
