Pokemon GO player appreciates latest variant, calls it the “most fun” they’ve had in years

Pokemon GO's new Wild Area event has many players deeply invested in the many different facets of content the game has to offer. Not only are there great Raid Battles for players to partake in, but new variants of wild encounters have begun to appear known as Mighty Pokemon. This has breathed new life into wild encounters, unlike how many players anticipated, generating more powerful creatures.

User harribo7 on the Pokemon GO subreddit shares their thoughts on this new type of wild spawn appearing during the current global Wild Area event, stating that these new creatures make for some of the most fun they have had with the game in years. In their post, they state the following:

"This is the most fun I've had on Pokemon GO in years... It is 30 degrees and raining in Boston and these mighty spawns have me out walking like its 2016. Niantic, please keep the mighties around, even if theyre super rare spawns. They make the game fun again.

In their post, the user shows pictures of their encounters with a Mighty Golem, Mighty Gyarados, and a Shiny Mighty Tyrantrum. These types of encounters would be next to impossible if Mighty Pokemon were not introduced to Pokemon GO, given the game's nature of restricting certain creatures from spawning in the wild.

User GlitchingGecko echoes the sentiment of the original post, detailing how they are going out to brave the chilly winter weather to get their hands on these rare creatures. A big draw to these creatures is how perfectly they can recapture the magic of playing the game back in 2016 for many users.

These creatures are initially encountered with a hidden combat power rating. This is akin to how players would normally encounter a stronger wild Pokemon in the game at lower account levels. With many veterans not seeing such imposing creatures in the wild until now, Mighty Pokemon can reignite that sense of nostalgia for the earlier days.

The last 15 minutes of the event was filled with these rare Mighty Pokemon

Many players were also fond of the final stretch of the event, which brought these Mighty Pokemon to the forefront of the encounter table. For these remaining minutes of the Wild Area event, Mighty Pokemon had a much higher chance of spawning, which gave many more players access to these special creatures.

Mighty Pokemon are rare wild Pokemon that have a higher chance of having better IVs and being either XL or XXL sizes. These are also typically fully-evolved Pokemon who are also much more difficult to capture. Thankfully, Niantic released Safaria Balls for the Wild Area event to help remedy this downside.

Giving players a better chance to find powerful and rare creatures in the wild was sure to become a hit among the community. However, it is unclear whether these monsters will be available year-round, or even as parts of future events. This is unlikely, and Niantic may opt to reserve them for other Wild Areas.
