Appearance of Rowlet

Rowlet is a small owl-like Pokemon resembling an owlet. Rowlet has a rounded beige body with short legs, with a white underbelly. Rowlet also has a white facial disk, a concave collection of feathers on the face of most owls. Rowlet has large, simple black eyes and a short break, with the top part of its beak being white, while the lower half of its beak is orange. Rowlet has two forward-facing toes and one backward-facing toe, with all of these toes resembling the orange color of its beak. Two leaves sprout from its chest, resembling a bowtie. Additional leaves form its tail plumage and line the undersides of its wings.

Behavior of Rowlet

Rowlet, like a real-life owl, is nocturnal, with Rowlet storing energy during the day via a form of photosynthesis resembling a real-life plant. Rowlet attacks using stealth, silently gliding, before unleashing a volley of kicks, with Rowlet possessing feathers sharp as blades, which can be launched from the air. Due to its nocturnal nature, Rowlet prefers small, dark spaces.

Strengths and Weaknesses

As a starter Pokemon, Rowlet is decently balanced, with its HP being its highest stats. Despite this, Rowlet has a relatively low-speed stat. Despite its passable stats, Rowlet is not yet able to perform as an effective sweeper or wall breaker since its pre-evolved version does not have high enough stats. As a flying and grass-type Pokemon, Rowlet is weak to flying, poison, rock, fire, and ice-type attacks, and Rowlet being resistant to fighting, water, and grass-type Pokemon. Due to its flying-type nature, Rowlet is also immune to ground-type attacks.

Rowlet Evolutions

Rowlet is the grass-type starter of these games though it is also a flying-type Pokemon, with it evolving into Dartrix at level 17 and evolving into Decidueye at level 34. Evolved Rowlet has far better stats which can help make up for its weak starting stats, with Rowlet’s final evolution, Decidueye shifting types, being part ghost-type instead of part flying-type.

Best Moveset

When it is unevolved, Rowlet starts very weakly, making it not yet able to perform as an effective sweeper or wall breaker. Leaf Blade and Brave Bird serve as powerful STAB (same-type attack bonus) moves. Sucker Punch serves as type coverage and Swords Dance helps boost Rowlet’s low attack.
