Carissa Moore has been a great influence in shaping the surfing community for several years, without any doubt. The woman who has won the world surfing five times aims to defend her title in Paris after winning gold at her first Olympics in the game of surfing in Tokyo. Then, the 31-year-old surfer said that she would like to take a step back from competitive surfing in January 2024.

She has earned numerous awards for her surfing undertaking including the National Geographic's Adventurer of the Year, the Glamour magazine's Woman of the Year and the Surfer Magazine's Top Female Surfer vote. From her young age 21 she was accepted to the Surfers' Hall of Fame, and January 4 was declared “Carissa Moore Day” throughout Hawaii by the State of Hawaii.

Carissa Moore born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on August 27, 1992, is one of the greatest surfers in the world who fell in love with the sea for the first time at the age of five when she was surfing the waves in Waikiki with her father. This was completely unexpected as she had no clue that these first performances would be a springboard to an incredible surfing career. Moore, impressed with her wins, prevailed with the NSSA junior surf contests and ascended through the ranks like a rocket.

In a short space of time, she has been unsuccessful, having won eleven NSSA amateur titles. In 2008, she took place in surfing history by owning the youngest winner title of the Reef Hawaiian Pro, a Triple Crown of Surfing event.

Carissa Moore's high school career

Moore masterfully captures the difficult but rewarding balance between academics and a world-class surfing career, from kindergarten through high school graduation at Punahou School in Honolulu. She debuted on the Association of Surfing Professionals (now the World Surf League (WSL)) world championship tour in 2010, her senior year. She skipped an event later that year to go to her graduation ceremony. Former US President Barack Obama also graduated from the same school in 1979.

How much was Carissa Moore's average in high school?

Carissa Moore began the sport of surfing with her father off the shores of Waikiki Beach in Honolulu Hawaii at the age of five. At the age of eleven, Moore continued winning in junior surfing competitions organized by the National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA). Additionally, she placed first at the World Junior Surfing Championships, the International Surfing Association, and the ISA, where she assisted Hawaii in winning as a team.

She won a record 11 NSSA amateur titles in total, and when she won the Reef Hawaiian Pro in 2008 at the age of 16, she made history as the youngest winner of a Triple Crown of Surfing event.

Moore earned a spot on the 2010 ASP (now World Surf League) Championship Tour by qualification. Rookie of the Year, she placed third overall and won two significant competitions.

After winning three events and taking home her maiden World title the following season, Moore proved that she was a young talent to watch on the World Tour. In the process, she defeated four-time defending champion Stephanie Gilmore. She won the surfing world title at the age of 18, making history as the youngest person to do so.
